Our Process
When it comes to protecting your property from mold, having a clear, proven process is essential. Our four-step system combines independent verification with expert remediation to deliver results you can trust.
Request a QuoteIndependent Inspection & Assessment
(1-4 Days)
Certified Mold Inspectors (should not be the same company that remediates the mold) visually inspect the environment, take moisture readings, and send mold samples to a lab. A Inspection Report is issued containing recommendations that the Remediation Company, such as Acme Clean Air, will follow to address the issues.
Professional Remediation
(1-5 Days/Area)
IICRC Certified Remediation Company uses the Inspection Report to remediate visible mold and determine the extent of non-visible mold growth by cutting into walls, ceilings, and flooring suspected of harboring hidden mold growth. Areas with substantial mold growth are physically enclosed with a containment of special, environmental-grade plastic to prevent spores from spreading to other areas. Non-porous materials impacted by mold or moisture are dried and cleaned in place and porous materials are cut out and removed from the environment in sealed environmental-grade bags. The air is then HEPA filtered for 48 hours in preparation for re-inspection.
Third-Party Clearance
(1-4 Days)
The certified third-party Mold Inspector returns to confirm remediation was successful and issues a clearance report if successful. If additional work must be done, the Mold Inspector will provide guidance that the Remediation Company must follow before final clearance is issued. This work is typically done by the remediation company at no additional charge.
Expert Rebuilding
(Depends on Project)
A licensed contractor rebuilds the areas of walls, ceilings, floors, or cabinetry, removed during remediation. Sometimes the Remediation Company also offers restoration services. However, a Remediation Company should never conduct clearance inspection and testing on its own remediation.

Frequently Asked Questions
When you see a little bit of mold on the bathroom tiles, you just scrub it off and it’s no big deal. However, when a pipe breaks under the bathroom sink or your roof develops a significant leak, you can end up with a significant amount of microbial growth. Mold is not just an unsightly or bad-smelling problem; some types of mold are actually toxic. Qualified mold remediation specialists know how to safely remove the growth, making sure to get it all without spreading any mold spores to other areas of the home.
The EPA recommends having a qualified contractor who specializes in mold remediation do areas with more than 10 square feet. We recommend you have a certified mold inspector test areas with more than 2 feet by 2 feet to determine the type of growth and the severity of the situation. Microbial growth found on surface areas could signal growth in hidden areas such as inside walls, ceilings, air ducts, crawlspaces, or under flooring.
Yes. ACA is insured for all work we perform.
Yes. We perform all remediation in accordance with IICRC S520 guidelines. In addition, we perform all recommendations in accordance with the Hygienist you hire for the initial testing.
Yes. Each member of the leadership team at ACA has the Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) in mold remediation and water restoration. Each of our remediation teams has a lead technician with certification, and there is always at least one certified technician at every job we do.
Yes. We are committed to doing the best job possible the first time. We guarantee your mold issue will be resolved before we leave your home or business. Should mold be discovered in areas outside the original scope of work and mold inspection report, a new job can be started to remove it.
Upon initial contact, one of our remediation specialists will gather all pertinent information for the job including the microbial inspection report from your Hygienist. We will come to your property to evaluate the scope of work, take any necessary measurements, and thoroughly explain the remediation process. We will then submit a proposal for you to review and accept.
Every situation is different. However, a standard remediation will take 3-7 days. This includes a 48-hour period for the air scrubbers to run in your home post remediation. For more information on our process, see Mold Remediation.
Whether you can remain in the building during remediation depends on a number of factors. In most cases, you would not need to leave because the area to be remediated is small and easily contained. However, some jobs require you to vacate for a short period of time. This will be determined based on the amount of work to be done and the location of the mold. Your protection is our first priority. We will use air barriers, workspace containment, and HEPA air scrubbers to prevent cross- contamination and protect non-contaminated areas during removal and cleanup.
We use DefendAir HEPA 500 versatile air scrubbers. The HEPA filter used in this model has an efficiency rating of 99.97% against 0.3-micron oily aerosol particles.
The purpose of clearance testing is to determine that an area is clear of hazardous levels of dust, debris, or airborne particles before beginning restoration. It is in the best interest of all parties involved to have clearance testing conducted by an independent, third party certified mold inspector. To avoid conflicts of interest, ACA excludes clearance testing from our services. Your project manager can refer you to a qualified mold inspector or point you in the right direction to locate one yourself.
